“I’M JUST MISSING MY SON”: DAD REFUSES TO GIVE UP SEARCH FOR 30-YEAR-OLD MAN AFTER WORK TRUCK IS FOUND ABANDONED

A Texas father is refusing to stop searching for his 30-year-old son after his work truck was discovered abandoned — with his phone, wallet, laptop and keys still inside.

Alexander Bangert has been missing since August 9, 2026, and his sudden disappearance has left his family desperately searching for answers.

His father, Eugene Bangert, says he cannot understand what happened.

“I’m at a loss. I’m just missing my son,” Eugene told local outlet FOX 7.

And despite weeks passing without answers, he continues to believe Alexander is somewhere out there.

Alexander’s work truck was discovered near the Bridge at Ribelin Ranch apartments, less than a mile from the Promesa Apartments where he had been living for more than a year.

But the vehicle immediately raised questions.

Inside were several belongings Alexander would normally be expected to have with him — including his phone, wallet, laptop and keys.

His company hoodie was reportedly discovered on a nearby fence.

That detail led investigators to consider the possibility that Alexander may have entered a nearby greenbelt.

Police have searched the area.

But Alexander has not been found.

MISSING: ALEXANDER BANGERT, 30, AUSTIN, TEXAS (8/9/2026) Alexander Bangert, 30, was last seen and heard from on August 9, 2026. His vehicle was located and towed from 9900 McNeil Drive in Austin,“WHY WOULDN’T HE JUST COME HOME?”

For his father, the location of the truck makes the mystery even harder to understand.

Eugene said Alexander had been living at his apartment for more than a year and, to his knowledge, did not have friends at the apartment complex where the truck was discovered.

That has left him questioning what could have happened during those final known moments.

“Just for him to park up the road, why wouldn’t he just come to his own apartment complex?” Eugene told FOX 7.

“Was he scared? Was something happening that he didn’t want to come back home?”

Those are questions the family still cannot answer.

HIS DISAPPEARANCE WAS OUT OF CHARACTER

Alexander’s absence quickly alarmed the people around him.

According to his father, Alexander was normally in frequent contact with family.

By August 11, his employer had contacted Eugene because they had not heard from him.

Eugene began checking hospitals and jails in an effort to find his son.

Nothing led him to Alexander.

Weeks later, the search continues.

POLICE DO NOT CURRENTLY SUSPECT FOUL PLAY

Despite the unusual circumstances surrounding Alexander’s disappearance, authorities have not indicated that they currently suspect foul play.

That has not stopped his father from continuing to search.

Eugene has been traveling across Texas, distributing flyers featuring his son’s photograph and description in hopes that someone will recognize him.

Texas EquuSearch Search and Recovery has also joined the effort.

For Eugene, every possible lead matters.

“I JUST DON’T KNOW”

Alexander is described as a 30-year-old white man with brown hair and hazel eyes. He is approximately 5 feet 9 inches tall and weighs 168 pounds.

His father describes him as kind and courteous, saying he does not believe Alexander had enemies.

That makes the disappearance even more difficult for the family to comprehend.

“I just can’t figure out what happened to him,” Eugene said.

“If he was taken, if he just ran off, if somebody did something to him, I just don’t know. It’s a mystery.”

A FATHER WHO REFUSES TO STOP LOOKING

Every day that passes brings more uncertainty.

But Eugene is not giving up.

He continues driving across Texas, handing out flyers and asking people to look closely at Alexander’s face.

One person recognizing him could change everything.

For now, there is no confirmed explanation for why Alexander disappeared, why his truck was left behind, or why his personal belongings remained inside.

There is only a father searching for his son.

Alexander Bangert has been missing since August 9.

And Eugene’s message is simple:

“I believe in my heart, he’s out there somewhere, still alive.”
