When Tranaya learned at 22 weeks pregnant that her unborn daughter had a rare condition affecting the development of her arm, her excitement about becoming a first-time mother quickly turned into fear for the future.

Little Analeia, affectionately called Ana, was born with radial ray dysplasia, a congenital condition in which the radius bone on the thumb side of the forearm is shortened or missing.

For Tranaya and her family, the diagnosis brought countless questions. Would Ana be able to do everyday things? Would other children treat her differently? Would she face judgment because she looked different?

“I felt lost and confused,” Tranaya recalled. “I prayed and asked, ‘Why me?’ As a parent, you want to protect your child from everything that could hurt them.”

But one thing was never in doubt — Tranaya wanted her baby girl.

“I knew I wanted my baby, and I was going to have my baby. I’m so glad I did.”

Now, little Ana has just celebrated her first birthday, and she is showing her family that life can be far bigger than the fears they once had.

She is meeting her milestones, exploring the world and doing the things babies love to do. Her parents couldn’t be prouder as they watch her grow more confident every day.

“She is thriving and striving,” her family shared. “She has already shown us that her differences will never define what she can accomplish.”

The journey has also connected the family with the Lucky Fin community, where they have found encouragement and stories from others living with limb differences.

For Tranaya, that support has brought a new sense of hope for the years ahead.

“We can’t wait until she’s older to show her that there are people just like her out there doing amazing things,” she said.

And as Ana continues taking her first steps into the world, her family has one message for their little girl: “The sky is the limit.”
