POLICE UNCOVERED MORE THAN A TRAGEDY INSIDE THAT SHEFFIELD HOME — AND THE CASE AGAINST FOUR ADULTS HAS TAKEN A DISTURBING TURN

A newborn baby was found dead inside a Sheffield property just days ago. Now, four adults — including the baby’s mother and her boyfriend — are facing murder charges as investigators continue to piece together what happened inside the Holywell Heights home.

THE DISCOVERY THAT STARTED THE INVESTIGATION

South Yorkshire Police were called to an address in the Wincobank area of Sheffield on the morning of August 30 after receiving concerns about the safety of a baby.

What officers discovered inside an outbuilding would trigger a major investigation.

A newborn girl, referred to in court as Baby S, was found dead on top of a washing machine. She had suffered 33 injuries, including 15 separate stab wounds, according to evidence presented in court.

The baby had reportedly been wrapped in a towel and placed inside a blue bag before being left in the outbuilding. A forensic post-mortem later confirmed that she died from stab wounds.

FOUR ADULTS NOW FACE MURDER CHARGES

The investigation quickly led to multiple arrests.

Four adults have since been charged with murder:

• Andrea Skopova, 20, the baby’s mother
• Peter Horvath Jr, 19
• Peter Horvath Sr, 38
• Nina Horvathova, 37

Peter Horvath Jr is Skopova’s boyfriend, while Peter Horvath Sr and Nina Horvathova are his parents.

All four are Slovak nationals and are also charged with causing or allowing the death of a child and perverting the course of justice.

A fifth defendant, a 15-year-old girl, has also been charged, but only with perverting the course of justice. Her identity is legally protected.

Two other women, aged 26 and 37, were arrested on suspicion of murder but have not been charged and remain on bail.

THE DETAIL THAT RAISED EVEN MORE QUESTIONS

As the case reached court, prosecutors revealed that Baby S had been born at the Holywell Heights address in the early hours of August 30.

The court heard that Skopova later went to hospital after giving birth.

The baby’s father has not been identified in court, leaving one of the most basic questions surrounding the newborn still unanswered.

That detail, together with the circumstances in which Baby S was discovered, has added another layer of uncertainty to an already complex investigation.

INVESTIGATORS ARE STILL BUILDING THE CASE

Police have described the investigation as complex and have urged members of the public not to speculate about the case online.

Detective Chief Inspector Tom Woodward said protecting the integrity of the criminal justice process was essential to securing justice for the baby.

Investigators have also recovered evidence as they continue examining what happened inside the property.

The four adults remain in custody while the legal process moves forward.

THE NEXT MAJOR COURT DATE

The four adults and the teenage defendant are expected to face a full trial at Sheffield Crown Court.

The trial has been scheduled to begin on April 12, 2027, and is expected to last approximately six to seven weeks.

A further hearing is scheduled for October 2, 2026.

For now, there is no confirmed evidence that Peter Horvath Jr had a previously unknown “secret identity,” as viral posts have claimed.

What is confirmed is already deeply disturbing: a newborn girl died after suffering multiple stab wounds, four adults have been charged with her murder, and prosecutors are preparing a case that could take weeks to hear in full.

The biggest questions surrounding Baby S remain unanswered — and the evidence presented at trial could reveal what happened inside the Sheffield home that morning.
