A FIGHTER FROM DAY ONE: KITTY’S INSPIRING JOURNEY THROUGH MAJOR SURGERIES

Before she was even born, little Kitty faced overwhelming challenges. Pre-natal scans revealed that she had signs of Down syndrome, along with severe congenital health issues, including heart defects, a narrowed aorta, and a complex digestive condition.

Just 15 minutes after entering the world, Kitty was urgently transferred to Boston Children’s Hospital to receive specialized medical care. At merely eight days old, the brave infant had already endured two major procedures. To add to her complex health journey, doctors later diagnosed her with hyperinsulinism/hyperammonemia (HIHA) syndrome, an extremely rare genetic condition that severely impacts blood sugar regulation.

By the time she reached five weeks old, Kitty was battling ongoing heart failure and required immediate open-heart surgery to save her life. Despite the daunting medical hurdles and continuous surgeries during her very first weeks of life, her incredible journey demonstrates remarkable resilience, supported by the tireless dedication of her medical team and the unwavering love of her family.
