Alabama Woman Suffers Serious Injuries After Violent Incident Inside Her Home

A 27-year-old woman from Mobile is recovering in the hospital after a violent incident inside her home left her with severe chemical burns and injuries to her face, eye, and hands. The victim, identified as Jasmine Clausell, says the attack was carried out by a woman she had taken in as a guest.

According to Clausell, the situation began weeks earlier when she allowed her friend, Quicheay Williams, to stay with her after Williams and her dog were without a place to live. What began as an act of help quickly turned into tension. Clausell says her guest seemed increasingly withdrawn and irritable. “Her energy changed. She was moving around like something was wrong,” she said.

On the morning of the incident, Clausell told Williams it was time for her to leave. While preparing her four-year-old son for school, Clausell heard noises coming from the kitchen. Moments later, she says Williams confronted her, holding a heated cup containing a harmful substance.

Clausell described the moment the confrontation escalated. “She just snapped. She said she wasn’t leaving. Before I could react, she threw it in my face.” The substance caused immediate burning and impaired vision in one eye. Clausell says she then saw Williams reach toward her pocket and realized she was armed. A struggle followed, during which Clausell’s grandfather intervened and managed to take the weapon. Clausell says her attacker then used broken glass to injure her hands.

Williams was later taken into custody and is currently being held at Mobile Metro Jail.

From her hospital bed, Clausell spoke about the emotional impact as much as the physical pain. “I’m not really angry. I’m hurt,” she said. “I helped her because I thought she needed a place to feel safe.”

Her parents, who have been by her side since the attack, shared their own reactions. Her mother expressed disbelief over the situation. “She opened her home from a place of kindness. None of us ever imagined something like this would happen.” Her father added, “We’re thankful she’s alive. This could have ended in an even more tragic way.”

Clausell, a nursing student and mother of one, now faces a long recovery process, including treatment for her burns and support for her damaged eyesight. Her family says the medical care and extended healing time will create significant challenges.

“We are holding onto hope,” her mother said. “She’s strong, and we’re going to get her through this.”

A fundraising page has been set up by the family to assist with medical costs and ongoing support as Clausell begins rehabilitation.
