DOUBLE TRAGEDY AS TWO IRISH MEN DIE IN SEPARATE INCIDENTS WHILE ON HOLIDAY IN SPAIN

Two families from County Armagh are mourning the heartbreaking loss of loved ones after two Irish men died in separate incidents while on holiday in Spain.

Martin Boyce, from Lurgan, County Armagh, died suddenly while on holiday in Lanzarote on September 3, according to a death notice and tributes reported by The Irish Sun.

The father of three was remembered as a beloved husband to Geraldine and a much-loved father to his daughters Michele, Mairead and Enya.

His sudden passing has left his family and friends devastated, with tributes highlighting the impact he had on the local community.

Martin was also well known within the Gaelic Athletic Association community in County Armagh.

Mullabrack GFC remembered him as a former player who had been part of the club’s Junior Championship-winning team in 1983.

The club offered its condolences to Martin’s wife, daughters and wider family, describing his death as a heartbreaking loss.

Martin also gave his time to St Peter’s GAC in Lurgan, where he helped coach youth teams as well as the senior ladies’ team.

The club said his warmth, commitment and love of Gaelic football had touched many people over the years.

His funeral took place on September 14 at the Church of St James of Jerusalem in Mullaghbrack, followed by burial in the adjoining cemetery.

ANOTHER ARmagh FAMILY DEVASTATED

Separately, another County Armagh family was mourning the death of John Myles Cherry of Annaghmore, who died in Spain on September 2.

His funeral notice confirmed that John had died “tragically whilst on holiday in Spain.”

John was remembered as a beloved husband to Lorna and a much-loved father and stepfather. He was also a grandfather to six grandchildren — Oscar, Jake, Hannah, Lilly, Rosie and Ruby.

His funeral service was held at Annaghmore Parish Church on September 14.

Friends and neighbors paid emotional tribute to John following news of his sudden passing.

One tribute described him as a “true gent” who had been taken too soon.

Another remembered him as a kind and thoughtful man who would be deeply missed.

A former neighbor also described John as a brilliant neighbor and friend while offering condolences to his wife and family.

TWO FAMILIES, TWO SUDDEN LOSSES

Although the deaths occurred in separate circumstances, the two tragedies have left families in the same County Armagh community facing an incredibly difficult period of grief.

Martin and John were both remembered not simply for the circumstances of their deaths, but for the relationships they built during their lives — as husbands, fathers, grandparents, friends, teammates and members of their local communities.

For their loved ones, holidays that should have created happy memories have instead become associated with two devastating losses.

As tributes continue to be shared, both families are now left to remember the men they loved and the lasting impact they had on those around them.
