Born at just 22 weeks old, Austin was diagnosed with no survival after a few hours. However, what she did surprised many people.
When pregnant, every mother hopes that the baby in her womb will be healthy and born on the right day and month. Recently, at a hospital in Leicester, UK, Austin Douglas was born at 22 weeks old – which means only half the time of other normal babies. At birth, the boy weighed only 0.5 kg.
Born at just 22 weeks old, baby Austin is only as small as an adult’s hand and weighs 0.5 kg.
It is known that Austin is the first son of the young couple Helen and Rhys. When her pregnancy was only 22 weeks old, Helen had to go to the emergency hospital because of the terrible pain and uncontrollable bleeding. Austin was born in a very weak state with thin skin that could see through, and his lungs and ears were not fully developed. In particular, Austin is only as small as an adult’s hand and weighs 0.5 kg.
The doctors on duty insisted that the baby could not live more than a few hours. However, Austin amazed everyone with his resilient fighting abilities. After more than 70 days of intensive treatment, her physical condition is gradually improving, her heart rate is beating stronger and she can breathe on her own for a longer time than usual.
To the doctors of Leicester Hospital, Austin was indeed a brave warrior, always fighting resiliently against disease. Her strong will touched the people around her, especially the Douglas family, and had no thought of giving up. On July 28, Rhys hopes Austin will be healthy enough for his family to take him home.
Because of being born too prematurely, the baby was born in a very weak state, and the lungs, skin and ears were not fully developed.
After days of resilient fighting, Austin’s health is gradually improving.
Although the chances of survival were very low, Rhys never stopped praying and hoping for his son.
