A FEARLESS HEART: JETT TRUNNELL’S ONGOING BATTLE WITH OSTEOSARCOMA
“Please don’t let them take me.” A 15-year-old boy fighting bone cancer was crying and terrified as doctors took him away from his mom this week to drain fluid from around his lung. Jett Trunnell has been battling osteosarcoma since his diagnosis at age 14 last summer, after months of worsening leg pain led doctors to discover a massive tumor near his hip.

His mom, Tiffany, says Jett has endured so much since then, but she had never seen him react with such fear. As doctors prepared to take Jett back for the procedure, he begged his mother not to let them take him, scared that bad things were going to happen. Before separating, Jett made his mom promise she would be right there the second he woke up. She kept her promise.
Thankfully, the procedure went well. Although Jett was not completely put under and initially felt anxious, he powered through like a champion once the medication took effect. Doctors drained an entire liter of fluid, with a small tube remaining in place so his medical team can periodically unclamp it to safely clear the rest. While the family hoped to leave sooner, they will remain at the hospital for further care.

Described by his family as an old soul with an enormous heart, Jett is funny, loves collecting coins, gives the best hugs, and is always ready to help others. As this sweet young man continues his tough fight against osteosarcoma, his family invites everyone to send prayers, encouragement, and special words of support to keep his spirits strong through the journey ahead.
