A CALL FOR HOPE AND PRAYERS: COLLEGE STUDENT SURVIVES CATASTROPHIC ACCIDENT

A 20-year-old Texas college student is currently facing a life-altering battle after suffering a severe spinal cord injury from a dock diving accident. Jack Malouff was with friends at an Austin-area lake when he dove into shallow water and struck his head. After remaining underwater for roughly 30 seconds, friends pulled him out without a pulse. Following CPR, Jack miraculously survived, but sustained critical damage to his spinal cord, specifically involving his C2, C6, and C7 vertebrae.

Currently paralyzed in all four limbs, Jack remains in serious condition as doctors prepare him for surgery. While medical professionals have warned the family about the possibility of permanent paralysis and lifelong care assistance, it remains too early to determine his ultimate long-term recovery path.

Beyond this tragic incident, Jack is recognized as a bright and compassionate young leader. A student at Austin Christian University and a budding entrepreneur, he recently won a university business pitch competition. He was developing “Fosterly,” an AI platform designed to help youth aging out of foster care navigate essential documents, education, and support systems—a initiative he called “My Circle.”

Now, Jack needs his own support system more than ever. His family and loved ones are asking people everywhere to keep him in their thoughts and prayers, focusing specifically on his upcoming surgery, fever reduction, and future recovery milestones including breathing, eating, talking, and walking independently.
