DOUBLE FAMILY TRAGEDY: 11-YEAR-OLD MIYA DEAMER-JONES FOUND DEAD IN VILLAGE PARK YEARS AFTER LOSING HER DAD TO CANCER — AS HEARTBROKEN COMMUNITY WAITS FOR ANSWERS

The schoolgirl was remembered as a caring, lively child who looked after her sisters — as flowers and emotional messages are left in her memory while police investigate her unexplained death.

An 11-year-old girl has been found dead in a quiet Worcestershire village, leaving her family, school friends and the local community devastated.

The girl, named locally as Miya Deamer-Jones, was reported missing at around 11:20pm on Sunday, October 4, after failing to return home.

She was later found in a park near Elmley Castle Cricket Club, close to the family home.

West Mercia Police are continuing to investigate the circumstances surrounding her death, which remains unexplained. Officers have also confirmed that they are not currently trying to identify any third party in connection with the incident.

A FAMILY ALREADY CARRYING GRIEF

Miya’s death has brought another devastating loss to a family that had already experienced heartbreak.

According to reports, Miya’s father died from cancer around three years ago.

People who knew the family said the young girl had deeply missed her father, adding another painful layer to the tragedy now facing her loved ones.

Miya was one of four sisters and lived with her mother and siblings in the village.

Those who knew her have remembered her not simply as the child at the centre of a police investigation, but as a much-loved daughter, sister and friend.

Tributes have described Miya as a kind, caring and lively young girl.

The Times reported that people who knew her remembered how she looked after her sisters and showed care and compassion towards other children at school.

She was also described as a cheeky character who brought warmth to those around her.

Miya was a student at Bredon Hill Academy in Ashton under Hill.

After news of her death spread, flowers, cards and soft toys were left near the scene.

One heartbreaking message from a school friend spoke of how difficult it would be to cope without Miya and said she would always remain in their heart.

A QUIET VILLAGE LEFT IN SHOCK

Elmley Castle is a small, close-knit community where residents said children regularly played in the surrounding area.

Miya was believed to have spent part of Sunday playing with a friend before later going towards the nearby field and cricket ground, a place local children were known to visit.

When she did not return home, her family searched for her before police were contacted.

Officers later discovered her body in the park near the cricket ground.

The discovery has left residents struggling to understand how such a tragedy could happen in their quiet village.

Flowers and tributes have since appeared near the police cordon as the community tries to support Miya’s family.

🔎 POLICE URGE PEOPLE NOT TO SPECULATE

There has been considerable discussion and speculation surrounding the circumstances of Miya’s death.

Police have urged people not to draw conclusions while their investigation continues.

West Mercia Police said officers were keeping an open mind but stressed that there is currently nothing to suggest a wider risk to the community.

The force also confirmed it is not currently seeking to identify a third party in connection with the death.

Chief Inspector Daniel Pilkington said officers’ thoughts remained with Miya’s family and friends and acknowledged the deep impact her death had on the village.

A larger police presence is expected in Elmley Castle while enquiries continue.

 A COMMUNITY WAITING FOR ANSWERS

For Miya’s loved ones, the questions surrounding her final hours remain unanswered.

For her classmates, neighbours and friends, there is the much simpler and more painful reality that a young girl they knew is no longer coming home.

The flowers, handwritten messages and small tributes left in the village are now reminders of the life Miya had — and of the many people who cared about her.

She was a daughter.

A sister.

A friend.

A schoolgirl with a life still ahead of her.

And now, as investigators work to establish exactly what happened, her family is left facing another devastating loss.

Miya’s death remains unexplained, and her loved ones are still waiting for the answers they deserve.
