SIX-YEAR-OLD HARRISON’S FINAL BIKE RIDE ENDS IN HEARTBREAKING TRAGEDY
Harrison Glynne Jones was just six years old when he asked his parents if he could go for a bike ride after dinner. Minutes later, his family’s world changed forever.
A six-year-old boy who went out for a bike ride after dinner has died following a collision with a van just outside his home in north Wales.
Harrison Glynne Jones, from Llanfairfechan in Conwy, was involved in a collision with a white Ford Transit Tipper on Mill Road at around 5pm on Thursday, October 1, 2026.
Emergency services were called to the scene, but Harrison was pronounced dead at the scene.
North Wales Police said a 39-year-old local man who was driving the van was arrested on suspicion of driving offences. He has since been released under investigation while enquiries continue.
HE HAD JUST ASKED TO GO FOR A BIKE RIDE
According to reports, Harrison had asked his parents if he could go out on his bike after finishing dinner.
The ordinary family moment would become the last time his loved ones saw him alive.
The Sun reported that Harrison had fallen while mounting his bike on the narrow road shortly before the collision. Police have not released a detailed account of exactly how the incident happened, and officers have urged people not to speculate while the investigation continues.
For his family, the tragedy is almost impossible to comprehend.
“A CHEEKY CHAPPY, FULL OF CHARACTER”
Harrison’s family have described him as a “cheeky chappy, full of character with a personality that could light up a room.”
A fundraising page established to support his parents, Kayleigh and Daryl, said Harrison was loved “more deeply than words could ever express.”
His family also spoke about the devastation facing his parents and sisters as they try to come to terms with losing him so suddenly.
“Our family’s world was changed forever,” the fundraising appeal said.
It added that there were “no words that can truly describe the heartbreak and devastation” experienced by Harrison’s parents, sisters and their wider family.
The family have asked people to remember Harrison for the lively, loving child he was rather than simply for the circumstances of his death.
Their tribute ends with a short but deeply emotional message:
“Forever loved, forever missed, forever 6.”
A COMMUNITY RALLIES AROUND HIS FAMILY
Following Harrison’s death, people in Llanfairfechan and beyond have rallied around his family.
A GoFundMe campaign was established by Kate Jones to help with funeral and memorial expenses, as well as household bills, food and other essential costs while Harrison’s parents take time away from work to grieve.
The campaign initially had a £5,000 target before being increased as donations poured in.
By October 4, more than £23,000 had reportedly been raised, approaching a new £30,000 goal.
The response has shown the strength of support for the family from people across the local community.
A minute’s silence was also held at a football match involving Llanfairfechan as people came together to remember the six-year-old.
POLICE APPEAL FOR CCTV AND DASHCAM FOOTAGE
North Wales Police are continuing to investigate the circumstances surrounding the collision.
Detective Inspector Tim Evans, of the North Wales Police Serious Collision Investigation Unit, said the force’s thoughts were first and foremost with Harrison’s family and loved ones.
Officers have specifically appealed to anyone who was in the area around Pen y Bryn Road and Mill Road at approximately 5pm on October 1 to come forward.
Police are particularly interested in any private CCTV, doorbell-camera recordings or dashcam footage that could have captured something relevant.
Investigators have stressed that even footage that may initially appear insignificant could potentially help establish what happened.
The force has also asked members of the public to be mindful of Harrison’s family and not to speculate about the circumstances of the collision or share potentially sensitive material online while the investigation remains active.
Anyone with information can contact North Wales Police via its live webchat or by calling 101. Information can also be provided anonymously through Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111, quoting reference 26000807122.
“FOREVER LOVED, FOREVER MISSED, FOREVER 6”
For Harrison’s family, the investigation will continue, but their loss is already permanent.
He was only six years old — a little boy with a lively personality and a future that should have stretched far beyond one October evening.
Instead, his parents and sisters are now preparing to say goodbye while trying to imagine life without him.
The details of the collision remain under investigation, and police have not released further information about its circumstances.
But those who knew Harrison want his story to be remembered for more than the tragedy.
They want people to remember a six-year-old boy who was full of character, deeply loved by his family and capable of brightening a room simply by being there.
Harrison Glynne Jones was six.
Forever loved. Forever missed. Forever 6.
