“HE WAS THE CENTRE OF OUR WORLD” — HEARTBROKEN FAMILY PAYS TRIBUTE TO 3-YEAR-OLD NOAH WOODS AFTER TRAGIC DE@TH

The little boy’s disappearance sparked an extraordinary community search involving around 1,300 people. Now, his family hopes he will be remembered for the laughter, affection and happiness he brought into their lives.

A family in Suffolk, England, is facing an unimaginable loss after three-year-old Noah Woods was found dead in a pond following an extensive search that brought together emergency services and hundreds of members of the public.

Noah went missing on the afternoon of September 15, 2026, after visiting a playground in Merriam Close, Brantham, with a relative. When he could no longer be found, a major search operation was launched involving police officers, specialist dive teams, emergency services and local volunteers.

The following afternoon, September 16, Metropolitan Police divers recovered the body of a child from nearby Decoy Pond. Police subsequently confirmed that the child was Noah.

His death is not being treated as suspicious, although police said further enquiries were required before information could be submitted to the coroner.

As news of Noah’s disappearance spread, people from Brantham and surrounding areas joined the search.

Approximately 1,300 members of the public helped alongside emergency responders and specialist teams. Some searched the surrounding area, while others helped coordinate volunteers, provide refreshments and support the operation.

The scale of the response reflected how deeply people wanted to help bring Noah home safely.

But after hours of searching, the discovery at Decoy Pond brought devastating news for his family and everyone who had hoped for a different outcome.

Suffolk Police thanked the volunteers and emergency services who had worked tirelessly throughout the search, while asking the public to respect the family’s privacy as they grieved.

“A HAPPY, CHEEKY, PLAYFUL LITTLE BOY”

In a tribute released through Suffolk Constabulary, Noah’s family remembered him as a cheerful little boy who loved to laugh and giggle.

“Noah was a happy, cheeky, playful three-year-old boy who loved to laugh, loved to giggle and who brought joy wherever he went,” they said.

They described him as the centre of their world, living with his parents and baby brother in a loving family.

Noah had mild hearing loss and delayed speech and was undergoing an assessment for autism, although he had not received a diagnosis. His family said he had been learning new words and beginning to find his voice.

They shared that one of the things they missed most was the unique sound of his voice — a small but deeply personal reminder of the child they loved.

One of the most moving parts of the family’s tribute was their description of Noah’s relationship with his younger brother.

They said Noah absolutely adored him, loved spending time with him and delighted in making him laugh.

Their bond was described as incredibly special, with Noah taking joy in entertaining and being close to his little sibling.

For his family, memories like these will remain precious reminders of the personality and affection that made Noah so loved.

His father, Rhys Woods, also paid tribute to his son, describing him as the “sweetest and most innocent little boy, with nothing but love to give.”

WHAT THE INQUEST HEARD

At the opening of the inquest on September 25, the hearing was told that Noah had left the playground through a gap in a fence, passed through an open gate and moved in the direction of Decoy Pond.

Detective Chief Inspector Matthew Connick said CCTV showed Noah playing with his relative earlier that afternoon. The footage was motion-activated and did not provide a continuous record of events.

The relative reportedly tried to keep up with Noah and shouted after him, but he eventually disappeared from view. Police were then contacted, and the large-scale search began.

A post-mortem examination had been conducted, but the medical cause of death remained pending further investigation at the time of the hearing. The inquest was adjourned to a later date.

A LITTLE BOY WHO WILL NEVER BE FORGOTTEN

Noah’s story has touched people far beyond his hometown. His family’s words have reminded many of the importance of cherishing everyday moments with children and loved ones.

For those who joined the search, the loss is also a painful reminder of how quickly a routine family outing can turn into a tragedy.

Noah was only three, with so much of life still ahead of him. His family will now carry the memories of his laughter, his growing voice and the special relationship he shared with his little brother.

Their request is simple: remember the happy little boy he was, and allow his loved ones the space to grieve.

Rest peacefully, Noah Woods. You were deeply loved, and your little life will not be forgotten. 💔
