Babysitter Charged After One-Year-Old Hospitalized With Serious Injuries in Cincinnati

Authorities in Ohio have filed charges against a babysitter following the hospitalization of a one-year-old child who was brought to Cincinnati Children’s Hospital with severe injuries. The child, identified by her family as Layla, was admitted to the neonatal intensive care unit two weeks ago and remains under close medical supervision.
According to court records, 37-year-old Amanda Greger, who was caring for the child at the time of the incident, has been arrested and charged with endangering children and tampering with evidence. Greger appeared in court on Thursday, where a judge set her bond at $500,000.

Prosecutors described the circumstances surrounding the case as deeply distressing. During the court hearing, one prosecutor stated that when Layla’s mother returned home from work the following morning, she was met with what was described as a devastating and alarming situation involving her child.
Layla’s family has shared photos with local media outlet WLWT, saying their priority is their daughter’s recovery and ensuring accountability. “Right now, all we care about is Layla getting the care she needs,” her mother said in a statement through family representatives. “She’s strong, and we’re staying by her side every step of the way.”

Layla’s father echoed that sentiment, adding, “Our lives changed in an instant. We’re focused on protecting our child and making sure the truth comes out. No family should ever go through this.”
In court, prosecutors said Greger allegedly told police that she had consumed alcohol and was using THC as well as muscle relaxers that were not prescribed to her. She also reportedly stated that she could not recall what happened during the time she was caring for the child. These claims are now part of an active investigation.
The case is being handled by multiple agencies, including the Goshen Township Police Department, medical staff at Cincinnati Children’s Hospital, and the Clermont County Prosecutor’s Office. Officials emphasized that the investigation is ongoing and that further details may emerge as evidence is reviewed.

Medical professionals have not released specific updates on Layla’s condition, citing privacy concerns, but confirmed that she continues to receive specialized care. Family members say they are grateful for the medical team and the support they have received from the community.
As the legal process moves forward, Layla’s parents say they hope their daughter’s case will raise awareness about child safety and the importance of thorough background checks for caregivers. “Layla deserves a future filled with love and protection,” her mother said. “That’s what we’re fighting for now.”
