SIR TOM JONES, 86, POSTPONES MORE US CONCERTS ON DOCTOR’S ORDERS AFTER BAD CASE OF THE FLU

SIR TOM JONES, 86, POSTPONES MORE US CONCERTS ON DOCTOR’S ORDERS AFTER BAD CASE OF THE FLU
The legendary Welsh singer has been forced to change several performances on his North American tour, with his latest announcement affecting two California concerts scheduled for October 31 and November 1.
Fans of Sir Tom Jones have been left concerned after the 86-year-old music legend announced that several upcoming US concerts would have to be postponed following medical advice.
The singer, best known for hits including “It’s Not Unusual,” “Delilah” and “What’s New Pussycat?”, revealed that he had unexpectedly developed what he described as “a bad case of the flu” after completing 20 performances across the United States.
In a message shared with fans on October 26, Jones explained that his doctor had advised him not to continue performing until he had recovered.
“Following doctor’s advice, I unfortunately have to reschedule tonight’s show in Los Angeles and tomorrow’s show in San Diego,” he announced.
He also apologised to concertgoers, saying he was truly sorry for the inconvenience and looked forward to seeing them again soon.
MORE SHOWS POSTPONED AS HE CONTINUES TO REST
The situation developed further over the following days.
On October 29, Jones announced that his performance at Yaamava’ Resort & Casino in Highland, California, would also be postponed after his doctor advised him to take another day of rest.
The concert, originally scheduled for October 30, was moved to November 6.
Then, on October 30, another announcement brought further disappointment for fans in Northern California.
Jones confirmed that his October 31 performance at Hard Rock Live Sacramento and his November 1 concert at The Masonic in San Francisco would be postponed until further notice, following further medical advice.
No new dates had been announced for those two performances at the time of the announcement.
WHAT HAPPENED TO THE LEGENDARY SINGER?
Jones has not publicly disclosed any diagnosis beyond his statement that he has been dealing with a bad case of the flu.
His decision to postpone the performances appears to be a precaution following medical advice, rather than an announcement that his entire tour has been cancelled.
The singer had been enjoying a busy stretch of performances before falling ill, telling fans that he had completed 20 shows across the United States and had enjoyed performing for audiences throughout the country.
His latest announcements show that he is prioritising the rest recommended by his medical team.
WHAT ABOUT TICKETS AND RESCHEDULED DATES?
Fans who purchased tickets for the Los Angeles and San Diego performances can use their original tickets for the rescheduled dates.
The San Diego concert at The Rady Shell at Jacobs Park is now scheduled for November 3, while the Los Angeles performance at The Greek Theatre has been moved to November 4.
The Highland show has been rescheduled for November 6.
For the Sacramento and San Francisco concerts, new dates had not yet been announced. Ticket holders were advised to retain their tickets and contact their original point of purchase if they are unable to attend the eventual rescheduled performances.
FANS SEND THEIR LOVE AND WISH HIM A SPEEDY RECOVERY
The announcements have prompted an outpouring of concern and supportive messages from fans who have followed Jones throughout his remarkable career.
With more than six decades in music, the Welsh singer remains one of the most recognisable voices in popular entertainment.
For now, there has been no announcement that the entire US tour has been cancelled, and no further medical details have been released.
Supporters will be hoping that the legendary performer gets the time he needs to recover and return to the stage when it is safe to do so.
