“I KNEW A PLANE WOULD TAKE HER FROM ME”: MOTHER’S HEARTBREAKING WORDS AFTER 20-YEAR-OLD PILOT DIES IN FLORIDA JET CRASH

She had spent years chasing her dream of becoming a pilot. Just 10 minutes before the aircraft went down, Nathalia Gadelha Filgueiras reportedly sent her boyfriend a brief message about turbulence and ice. Now, her mother is remembering the daughter she was always so proud of.

PALM BEACH COUNTY, FLORIDA — November 4, 2026

A mother is grieving the loss of her 20-year-old daughter after a private jet crashed in Florida, claiming the lives of all nine people aboard.

Nathalia Gadelha Filgueiras was serving as co-pilot aboard a Learjet 60 traveling from Austin, Texas, to the Bahamas when the aircraft crashed in Palm Beach County on Sunday, November 1.

In an emotional interview with the New York Post, her mother, Camila, shared words that have touched many people following the tragedy.

“I knew a plane was going to take her away from me. I always knew, but I was so proud of her. I know she was living her dream,” Camila said.

Her words reflect the painful conflict she had carried for years: the fear of losing her daughter to the dangers of aviation, alongside the pride of watching her achieve something she had always wanted.

For Nathalia, flying was more than a profession. It was a dream she had worked hard to turn into reality.

According to Nathalia’s stepfather, 44-year-old Thiago Corteleti, the young pilot was still communicating with her loved ones shortly before the aircraft went down.

Speaking to the New York Post, Corteleti said Nathalia had sent a message to her boyfriend, Justin, at approximately 12:40 p.m.

The aircraft crashed around 12:50 p.m.

Her message reportedly contained a brief description of the conditions she was experiencing:

“I’ve got turbulence, I’ve got ice.”

Those few words have since become an especially heartbreaking detail for her family.

They were among the last known communications she had with someone close to her before the tragedy.

Nathalia would have celebrated her 21st birthday in January 2027.

Despite being only 20, she had already built an impressive foundation in aviation.

She attended flight school, earned her pilot qualifications, and later worked as a flight instructor before beginning her career as a commercial pilot.

According to her family, she had accumulated approximately 1,300 flight hours and had been working as a commercial pilot for nine months.

Her passion for aviation began when she was young. She was determined to pursue a career in the skies, even though her mother had always worried about the risks involved.

For Camila, watching her daughter succeed brought immense pride, but the possibility of an aviation accident was a fear she had never been able to completely put aside.

Now, that fear has become a devastating reality.

THE FINAL MOMENTS: CREW REPORTED TURBULENCE AND ICE

Recordings of communications between the aircraft and air traffic control have revealed some of the crew’s final exchanges before the crash.

During the flight, the pilots reported moderate turbulence and ice accumulation.

As the situation deteriorated, the crew issued a Mayday distress call and reported that the aircraft was descending rapidly and that they were losing control.

In the final moments captured in the communications, the crew warned that the aircraft was going to hit the ground.

One of the final reported transmissions was:

“We’re out of time.”

The recordings have provided investigators with important information about the aircraft’s final moments.

However, the precise sequence of mechanical and weather-related events that led to the crash remains under investigation.

NINE PEOPLE LOST THEIR LIVES

The Learjet 60 was carrying two crew members and seven passengers when it crashed in Palm Beach County.

Among those aboard were Texas technology entrepreneur Adam Robinson, his wife Helen, their two young children, two family friends, and a nanny.

All nine people aboard died.

The crash has left multiple families mourning loved ones whose lives were cut short.

The National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB) is investigating the circumstances surrounding the disaster, including the aircraft’s condition, the reported weather conditions, and evidence recovered from the crash site.

Investigators are working to establish what caused the aircraft to lose control during its flight toward the Bahamas.

No definitive cause has been established.

A MOTHER’S PRIDE WILL LIVE ON

For Nathalia’s family, the tragedy is not defined only by the aircraft accident, but also by the young woman they knew and loved.

She was a daughter who pursued an ambitious dream, a young professional who had already accomplished so much, and someone whose future seemed full of possibilities.

Her mother had worried that flying might one day take her daughter away. Yet she never stopped recognizing how much Nathalia loved what she was doing.

“I was so proud of her. I know she was living her dream,” Camila said.

Nathalia’s story is now being remembered not only through the final messages and recordings surrounding the crash, but also through the years she spent working toward her ambition.

She was just 20 years old.

Her family now faces a future without the young woman who had once dreamed of spending her life in the skies.

May Nathalia and all eight other victims rest in peace.
