A Mother’s Unbreakable Faith A Heartfelt Reunion After Sixteen Days of Hope and Tears in Rio de Janeiro

Rio de Janeiro, Brazil — A deeply moving moment unfolded at Barra da Tijuca Hospital when a mother was finally able to embrace her young son after more than two weeks apart.

Little Guilherme, who suffers from dystrophic epidermolysis bullosa, a rare and painful genetic skin disorder, had been hospitalized for pneumonia and placed in an induced coma. His mother, Tayane Gandra, remained by his side throughout the ordeal, never losing faith that her son would recover.
For sixteen days, she sat beside his hospital bed, holding his hand, reading to him, and whispering words of love and encouragement. Doctors had warned that his recovery was uncertain, but she refused to give up hope.

Then came the moment she had been praying for — a call from the hospital informing her that her son had awakened. Overcome with emotion, Tayane rushed to the hospital, where she found Guilherme awake and breathing on his own.
The reunion was one of pure relief and joy. As Tayane held her son close, she could not contain her tears. “I knew you would come back to me,” she said softly.

Guilherme, still weak but alert, responded with the words every mother longs to hear: “Mom, I love you.”
