IDF Launches Waves of Overnight Strikes on Beirut Targeting Hezbollah Sites

The Israeli military said it carried out multiple waves of airstrikes overnight in Beirut, targeting Hezbollah command centers and other facilities it described as “terror sites,” in one of the most intense attacks on the Lebanese capital since the escalation of the regional conflict.
According to a statement released by the Israel Defense Forces (IDF), the strikes were aimed at infrastructure used by Hezbollah to coordinate and carry out attacks against Israeli troops and civilians. The military said the targeted command centers were intended to plan and direct “numerous terror attacks against IDF forces and the State of Israel.”

The operation focused primarily on the Dahieh district in southern Beirut, an area widely considered a stronghold of Hezbollah. Israeli officials said the overnight campaign struck multiple buildings believed to house military infrastructure linked to the Iran-backed group, including headquarters, intelligence facilities, and operational command sites.
Among the locations hit was a facility that Israeli intelligence said was being used to store unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs), or drones. The IDF claimed the drones were intended for future attacks on Israel, adding that destroying the site was meant to reduce Hezbollah’s ability to launch aerial assaults.
The Israeli military also stated that it took measures to limit civilian casualties. According to the statement, warnings and operational precautions were implemented to reduce harm to residents living in the densely populated Dahieh area. Israeli forces have repeatedly said Hezbollah places military infrastructure within civilian neighborhoods, a claim the group denies.

Despite the precautions, the strikes triggered scenes of destruction across parts of southern Beirut. Images from the area showed rescue workers and civil defense personnel searching through rubble and damaged buildings following the overnight bombardment. Residents reported hearing a series of powerful explosions throughout the night, describing it as one of the most intense waves of strikes since the current conflict began.
The attack comes amid a rapidly widening confrontation involving Israel, Hezbollah, and Iran. Hezbollah has launched rockets and drones toward northern Israel in recent days, claiming the attacks were a response to Israeli operations in Lebanon and broader regional tensions.
As the conflict intensifies, Israel has expanded its military campaign against Hezbollah infrastructure across Lebanon. The IDF has stated that it will continue targeting sites used by the group to prevent further attacks on Israeli territory.

Meanwhile, the escalating violence has raised fears of a wider regional war. International leaders have called for restraint as civilian displacement increases and casualties rise across Lebanon and neighboring countries.
For residents of Beirut, the overnight strikes represent yet another escalation in a conflict that is increasingly affecting major urban centers. With both sides continuing military operations and retaliation, analysts warn that the situation could further destabilize the region in the days ahead.
