FROM 1 LB 8 OZ TO 400 DAYS STRONG — COLSEN’S LONG NICU JOURNEY IS FINALLY LEADING HIM HOME

Baby Colsen Knox, who was born premature, will join his younger brother, whom Jones welcomed while Colsen was still in the neonatal intensive care unit.

Savannah Jones welcomed Colsen in March 2025, she revealed on TikTok at the time, sharing that the “sweet boy” weighed just 1 lb., 8 oz. At first, Jones said in the TikTok, she was told the newborn would be in the NICU for “at least” three months — but his stay ultimately stretched into over a year, with the “NICU Momma” visiting him as much as possible, per her TikTok account.

Now, 400 days later, Jones is getting ready to bring the infant home from the University of Kentucky hospital where he has continued growing, she told.

Colsen — who had his breathing tube removed at the 145-day mark, and now weighs almost 21 lbs. — has been through a lot throughout his stay. But from his time as an “itty bitty” baby to now, the infant has been smiling through it all, she told the local outlet.

“He gets poked and picked at and had surgeries and all these things,” she told, “but truly, since he was like at the gestational age to smile, he has smiled.”

“You kind of just get thrown into the NICU,” Jones said of the experience. “It’s something that we never thought about during my pregnancy with Colsen until we were in it.”

During Colsen’s NICU stay, Jones welcomed their second child, son Everen Spencer, she revealed on TikTok on Sunday, April 19.

Colsen’s little brother, she wrote in the caption, “arrived term & healthy. He’s home hallelujah. After a 400+ day NICU stay with his big brother, this is huge for us.”

Everen’s older brother will soon join him at home, but Jones does not like to talk about it to avoid jinxing the infant’s return, she explained.

“It’s like as soon as we start planning, something happens. So we say we’re going to the zoo,” the mom said. “We just started saying go to the zoo, and so now we’re excited to bring him home,” the mom of two added, “but also actually go to the zoo.”

A GoFundMe fundraiser created in anticipation of Colsen’s NICU discharge is even titled “Colsen’s Trip to the Zoo (Home!)” in a nod to the family’s inside joke.

“Colsen has been doing amazing, he’s been on a home vent and requiring little to no oxygen for the past couple of weeks,” the fundraiser reads. “He’s already on the settings they want him on when he goes home, and we couldn’t be more proud of how far he’s come. He has just a few sedation weans left, and then Colsy K gets his trip to the zoo.”

“At the same time, Savannah and Chris just welcomed their second baby boy, Everen, into the world,” the GoFundMe continues. “After everything they’ve been through, they are finally on the brink of having both of their boys under one roof, something that once felt so far away.”
