150 Beagles Begin New Lives After Release from Ridglan Farms
Today, the Beagle Freedom Project (BFP) team welcomed 150 beagles recently released from Ridglan Farms, marking the start of their journey toward rehabilitation and adoption. Each dog was immediately transferred to a triage site at the Dane County Humane Society, where compassionate volunteers helped them adjust to their new surroundings.
Upon arrival, the beagles were given the opportunity to experience grass for the first time, a simple yet transformative experience for dogs that had spent their lives inside breeding facility cages. Each dog received vaccinations, microchipping, and thorough medical and behavioral assessments. Once cleared, they were transported with rescue partners to begin their new lives in foster care or adoption programs.
Because these dogs were born and raised entirely within the confines of the breeding facility, adjusting to the outdoors and normal household life may take time. The BFP team emphasized patience, socialization, and consistent care as essential components of their transition.
This first day of relocation was considered highly successful. The operation will continue tomorrow with another 150 beagles, and by the end of the week, 500 dogs will have been released, moving steadily toward loving homes and families across the country.
The BFP encourages donations to support this effort, which covers medical care, rehabilitation, and the necessary resources to help these beagles thrive in their new lives. The release of these dogs not only represents freedom for each individual animal but also a broader victory for animal welfare initiatives and the dedicated organizations working tirelessly to rescue animals from commercial breeding operations.
