JUSTICE FOR GHOST: CHIHUAHUA 𝙳𝙸𝙴𝚂 DAYS AFTER HORRIFIC 𝙰𝙱𝚄𝚂𝙴 BY GROUP OF CHILDREN. $5,000 REWARD FOR INFORMATION

MIDDLEBURG, FLORIDA — What happened to a tiny Chihuahua-mix named Ghost has left an entire community heartbroken and searching for answers.
On May 17, a group of 4 to 5 children, believed to be between 9 and 13 years old, were reportedly seen mistreating the small dog at the Main Street Boat Ramp in Middleburg. Witnesses say the children threw the dog into the water, passed him back and forth, held him underwater, and handled him roughly while others watched.

A local family stepped in and rescued the terrified dog before the children fled the scene.
After the rescue, Allen Belton took the dog into his care and named him “Ghost,” hoping to give him the love and safety he deserved. Sadly, the situation had already caused severe injuries. Despite efforts to save him, Ghost passed away just a few days later.

Belton has since spoken about the heartbreak of losing the little dog he tried so hard to help, saying he has spent days mourning Ghost’s passing.
Now, the Clay County Sheriff’s Office is asking for the public’s help in identifying those responsible. Detectives believe someone in the community knows who these children are and are urging parents to come forward with any information.

First Coast Crime Stoppers is offering up to a $5,000 reward for information leading to the identification of those involved.
Ghost deserved kindness, safety, and a chance at life. Instead, his story ended in tragedy. If you know anything about this case, please speak up and help bring justice for Ghost.
