A 5-year-old girl lost her entire family in a house fire. Her body was left with severe injuries, with 75% burns, yet she remains full of optimism, touching the hearts of many.
This resilient little girl is Safyre Terry, 5 years old, living in New York State, USA. This Christmas, Terry has a sweet and meaningful wish: to receive more Christmas cards to hang on her own Christmas tree.
Two years ago, she lived with her family of five in Schenectady, New York. Her father, David Terry, 32, and her three younger siblings, Layah, 3, Michael, 2, and Donavon, who was just 11 months old at the time. Tragically, when Terry turned 3, their home was destroyed in a fire, taking her father and siblings with it.

Terryโs body was 75% burned. Losing her father and siblings in one night seemed like an unbearable tragedy for her. She later went to live with her aunt, Liz Dolller.

Speaking to Buzzfeed, Liz, Terryโs aunt, said: โTerry has undergone numerous surgeries since then. She has lost 50% of the function in her arms and legs. Terry lost her right hand and three months later her left foot. She also has difficulty using her mouth due to the lasting effects of the fire.โ
A family friend, deeply moved by Terryโs immense loss at such a young age, launched a fundraising campaign to help cover her surgical expenses. In a short time, the campaign raised over $15,000.
