Deputy Constable Jennifer Chavis of the Harris County Constable’s Office was performing a targeted enforcement operation aimed at intercepting suspected impaired drivers when the fatal crash occurred. According to preliminary reports, a white utility truck driven by Adolfo Serrano collided with her patrol vehicle, causing catastrophic damage. The vehicle caught fire at the scene.

Emergency responders arrived quickly, but Chavis sustained fatal injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene.
