STADE, GERMANY — A youth and mother-and-baby centre that exists to support vulnerable families has become the focus of a major homicide investigation after a gunman allegedly opened fire inside the facility, leaving six people dead and several others wounded.

The shooting unfolded in Stade, near Hamburg, triggering a massive emergency response as police, heavily armed officers, and rescue crews rushed to the scene.

Six Lives Lost

Authorities confirmed that four women and one man died at the scene, while another victim later succumbed to injuries in hospital.

Several additional victims were injured during the attack, with some requiring emergency treatment for serious wounds.

Officials have not yet released the identities of those killed while relatives are being notified.

Police Arrest Three People

Following an extensive operation, police confirmed that three people have been taken into custody.

Investigators identified a 45-year-old man as the principal suspect. Detectives are continuing to investigate the involvement of the other two individuals and have not announced whether they will face criminal charges.
