Catherine, Princess of Wales, Inspires Millions by Concluding the National Three Peaks Challenge to Support Cancer Patients Following Her Remarkable Recovery
Less than two years after her cancer diagnosis, Catherine, Princess of Wales, completed one of Britain’s toughest endurance challenges. She did it not for a medal, and not for a record, but simply to give hope to others.
Over one unforgettable weekend, Catherine completed the National Three Peaks Challengeβclimbing Ben Nevis in Scotland, Scafell Pike in England, and Snowdon (Yr Wyddfa) in Wales. The grueling challenge covered approximately 23 miles on foot, more than 10,000 feet of total elevation, and 462 miles of driving between the mountains, all within a tight 24-hour window.

She undertook this immense physical trial to raise vital funds for The Royal Marsden Cancer Charity, the hospital where she received treatment after being diagnosed with cancer in 2024. After completing her chemotherapy, Catherine announced she was in remission in 2025.
When she finally reached the summit of the last mountain, she was warmly welcomed by Prince William, their three children, and other close family members who had been waiting eagerly to celebrate the emotional moment with her.

Reflecting on the challenge, Catherine shared a powerful message that resonated with many people facing serious illness. She stated that cancer does not just affect the body, noting that it changes how you think and feel, and profoundly affects every aspect of life. She explained that the climb was about much more than physical endurance. It was a meaningful way to support others living with cancer and to highlight the absolute importance of emotional, psychological, and holistic care alongside medical treatment.
Some mountains are made of rock. Others are made of fear, uncertainty, and recovery. Catherine climbed both.
