Kate Middleton and Brother James Hold Hands in New Video of Her Secret Climb for Cancer Charity

The Princess of Wales received heartfelt family support during her inspiring charitable challenge, as captured in a newly shared video.
Over the weekend, Kate Middleton, 44, secretly completed the demanding National Three Peaks Challenge, summiting the highest mountains in England (Scafell Pike), Scotland (Ben Nevis), and Wales (Snowdon) within 24 hours. The Princess undertook the grueling hike — which spans roughly 23 miles with more than 10,000 feet of elevation gain — to spotlight life after cancer and raise awareness and funds for The Royal Marsden Cancer Charity.

A touching new video shared on June 30 via fellow hiker Phillip Tebajjwa’s Instagram Stories shows Princess Kate descending Mount Snowdon hand-in-hand with her brother, James Middleton, 39. One of James’s dogs can also be seen walking alongside them.
“There I was, congratulating fellow climbers as they made their way down from the windy summit… little did I know I was actually speaking to royalty,” Tebajjwa wrote.
Tebajjwa also shared a selfie with Kate, expressing his surprise at the unexpected royal encounter.
The Princess fittingly finished her challenge in Wales. She was greeted at the end by her husband Prince William, their three children — Prince George, Princess Charlotte, and Prince Louis — along with her parents, Carole and Michael Middleton.
James publicly showed his pride by commenting on his sister’s Instagram post about the achievement: “So proud” .

A Close Family Bond
The Middletons are known for their tight-knit relationship. In 2024, following Kate’s cancer diagnosis, James shared a meaningful message using a hiking metaphor: “Over the years, we have climbed many mountains together. As a family, we will climb this one with you too .” He later told PEOPLE, “We are a close family. It is always important to have support around you and not do things alone.”
This latest challenge comes after Kate announced in January 2025 that she is in remission from cancer. She and Prince William serve as joint patrons of The Royal Marsden NHS Foundation Trust. In honor of her efforts, the Royal Marsden Cancer Charity launched a special fundraising page focused on holistic care for patients.
Kate’s climb highlights resilience, family support, and a commitment to giving back after her own health journey — a powerful message for anyone facing life’s toughest “mountains.”
