BREAKING: FBI Captures Fugitive on Most Wanted Fraudsters List Accused of Stealing $547 Million from Medicare

The FBI has arrested a major fugitive who was on the run for years after allegedly orchestrating one of the largest Medicare fraud schemes in recent memory.

Khalid Satary, 54, was captured in the Middle East and returned to the United States this week. He is accused of leading a $547 million Medicare fraud operation between 2016 and 2019.

According to authorities, Satary’s network used deceptive marketing, illegal kickbacks, and bribes to push medically unnecessary genetic tests that Medicare paid up to $20,000 each for. The scheme targeted vulnerable patients, including cancer patients, and funneled money through call centers, recruiters, and telemedicine companies.

Satary was first indicted in 2019. He was released on bond but allegedly continued the operation. In 2022 he failed to appear in court, fled the country using a fake Mexican passport under a false name, and disappeared.

He remained at large until this week, when overseas partners located and arrested him. He was extradited back to the U.S. and appeared in federal court in Virginia on Tuesday.

FBI Director Kash Patel confirmed the arrest is the third capture from the bureau’s new “Most Wanted Fraudsters” list in just five weeks.

“This is another subject who exploited a program dedicated to helping our most vulnerable and instead stole for himself,” Patel said. “Satary has been on the run since 2022, but we got him.”

Satary now faces multiple serious federal charges, including health care fraud conspiracy, wire fraud, illegal kickbacks, and money laundering.
