Christian Obumseli’s Family Reaches Settlement in Miami Condo Lawsuit

The family of Christian Obumseli has officially settled their wrongful death lawsuit against the Miami luxury apartment building where he was tragically killed.

Christian’s parents, Chio and Igwe Chris Obumseli, had filed a lawsuit against the One Paraiso condo and its management company, FirstService Residential, claiming negligence played a role in their son’s death. However, before the case could go to trial, both sides reached a settlement.

According to legal documents, the condo and its management company have agreed to cover any outstanding hospital and medical expenses, including related liens. In exchange, the Obumseli family has dismissed the lawsuit with prejudice — meaning the case is permanently closed and cannot be refiled.

Courtney Clenney, who was initially named in the lawsuit, had already been dismissed from the civil case earlier this year.

Meanwhile, the criminal case against Clenney is still unfolding. She had been facing a possible life sentence after being charged with Christian’s murder. Recent reports indicate she is now negotiating a plea deal, though the details have not yet been made public.

Throughout the case, Clenney’s legal team has maintained that she acted in self-defense. Christian’s family, however, continues to strongly dispute that claim.
