Minnesota Daycare Tragedy: Mother and 7-Year-Old Daughter Killed in Domestic Attack

Minnesota Daycare Owner and 7-Year-Old Daughter Killed in Attack; Husband Dies by Suicide

A devastating tragedy at a home-based daycare in Hopkins, Minnesota, claimed the lives of 41-year-old Kristen Brown and her 7-year-old daughter, Evie Brown.

Kristen operated Brown Bear Childcare, where the attack occurred while other children were present.

According to search warrant records cited by the Associated Press, investigators allege that Kristen’s husband and Evie’s father, Nathan Brown, fatally attacked both victims with a screwdriver.

Nathan subsequently died by suicide from a gunshot wound, according to authorities.

Six other children were reportedly inside the daycare at the time of the attack. Police were able to rescue them, and none of the six children suffered physical injuries.

The investigation has also expanded to Burnsville, Minnesota, where a 78-year-old female relative was found dead earlier the same day. Authorities reportedly suspect Nathan may have been involved in that death as well.

Investigators are continuing to reconstruct the sequence of events and determine what led to the violence.

The motive remains under investigation, and authorities have not yet provided a definitive explanation for what prompted the attacks.

The deaths have shocked the local community, particularly because Kristen’s daycare was a place where families had entrusted her to care for their children. The six children who survived the incident were physically unharmed, but the tragedy has left the daycare community deeply shaken.
