BABY ADELINE IS BORN WITH HER SCALP, HANDS AND FEET NOT FULLY FORMED, FOLLOWING IN THE FOOTSTEPS OF HER BROTHER WHO FACED A SIMILAR RARE CONDITION

A newborn baby girl is facing a long and uncertain road ahead after being born with serious developmental differences that required surgery shortly after her arrival.

Adelene was born on April 13 in Vancouver to parents Franz and Nadya, who live with their family in Fort St. John, British Columbia. From the moment she was born, doctors discovered that her scalp had not fully developed and that her hands and feet had also not formed as expected.

For her parents, what should have been a joyful beginning quickly became a time filled with hospital visits, difficult decisions and countless moments of uncertainty.

Adelene soon underwent surgery on her head as doctors worked to address her condition and give her the best possible chance for recovery. Her medical journey is expected to continue, meaning the family must remain in Vancouver for an extended period rather than returning home to Fort St. John.

And for this family, Adelene’s arrival has also brought memories of a heartbreaking loss.

Their first child, a son named Avenir, was born with similar disabilities. He underwent surgery but later developed an infection and sadly passed away at just seven months old.

Their second child, Yelena, was born without these difficulties. Now, Adelene is their third child — a little girl whose parents are once again placing their hope in the hands of doctors while doing everything they can to stay by her side.

The family is now facing not only the emotional weight of Adelene’s treatment but also the practical challenges of spending months away from home.

With Franz and Nadya needing to remain in Vancouver, expenses are quickly adding up, including accommodation, meals, transportation, flights and time away from work.

“We just want to be beside our little girl and give her every chance we can,” the family shared. “After everything we have already been through, having Adelene here means so much to us.”

Every day brings another appointment, another step in her recovery and another reason for her parents to keep believing.

Adelene has already faced more in her first months than any parent could have imagined. Yet surrounded by her family and medical team, she continues to move forward one day at a time.

The family is asking for support from anyone willing to help them remain close to Adelene during this difficult chapter. Even a small contribution could help ease the financial pressure and allow her parents to focus on what matters most — being there for their daughter.

“Any support, no matter the amount, would mean the world to our family,” they said. “We are simply hoping to bring Adelene through this journey and one day bring her home.”
