SHE DATED THE “DATING APP KILLER” — THEN WALKED AWAY BEFORE HIS HORRIFYING SECRET WAS EXPOSED

In 2020, Monica White was simply a divorced mother looking for companionship.

She turned to a dating app.

That is where she met Anthony Robinson.

At first, Robinson appeared thoughtful, charming and interested in getting to know her. They talked regularly and eventually began dating.

But something about him started to feel wrong.

Anthony Robinson.THE RED FLAGS

During their time together, White began noticing disturbing behavior.

Robinson became aggressive and behaved in ways that made her increasingly uncomfortable.

One particular comment reportedly stayed with her — he said he did not like being rejected by women.

White eventually made the decision to end the relationship.

She had no idea at the time how important that decision would become.

Months later, Robinson was arrested.

Investigators accused him of using dating apps to meet women before luring them to motels.

Two women — Allene “Beth” Redmon and Tonita Smith — were ultimately the victims in the murder case for which Robinson was convicted.

Investigators also linked him to several other deaths, although he has not been convicted in those cases.

THE MAN SHE DATED WAS A KILLER

Robinson was convicted in 2025 on six counts related to the murders of Redmon and Smith.

In 2026, he was sentenced to two life terms plus 10 years in prison.

His defense has said it intends to appeal.

For White, the horrifying realization was that the man she had once welcomed into her life had been hiding a completely different identity.

She had not become one of his victims.

She had walked away.

Today, White is keeping a much lower profile.

According to PEOPLE, she has stepped away from dating apps and has focused on healing and self-love after the experience.

Her story has now been dramatized in the 2026 film The Dating App Killer: The Monica White Story, starring Lela Rochon as White and Jarod Joseph as Robinson. The film is based on White’s real-life experience.

But perhaps the most chilling part of her story is not what happened after Robinson was arrested.

It is what happened before.

She met him online.

She trusted him.

She noticed the warning signs.

And she left.

At the time, she may have thought she was simply ending a relationship that did not feel right.

Years later, she learned that decision may have saved her life.

Sometimes the most important warning sign is the feeling telling you to walk away.

Anthony Robinson was convicted of murdering Allene Redmon and Tonita Smith. He remains suspected, but not convicted, in several other deaths mentioned in reporting.
