Former Mr. Olympia Bodybuilder Dwayne Quamina Dies at 40, Days After Saying He ‘Felt Like Death’

Former Mr. Olympia bodybuilder Dwayne Quamina said he had recently “felt like death,” days before dying at the age of 40.
In a post on Instagram in which he could be heard wheezing, the Trinidad and Tobago native told his followers that he had been feeling sick.
“So I haven’t been super active on here, and it’s because I’ve been sick,” Quamina said on Friday, Aug. 14. “I got back from the flight and it was chaos, just felt like death.”

Two days after the post, on Sunday, Aug. 16, Quamina died. The Trinidad Express was first to report the news.
In his video on Friday, Quamina said he had experienced “shortness of breath,” and a cough, and was “prescribed some antibiotics” and received a steroid shot to open up his lungs at a “med spa.”
“And yeah, so we’re on our way to recovery, baby,” he said.
He added, “But we’re feeling better, it’s been a rough two days. We made it through it and yeah we’ll start building again.”
