MISSING LAWYERS FOUND DEAD EMBRACING INSIDE CRASHED PLANE AFTER THREE-DAY SEARCH

A three-day search for two Italian lawyers who vanished during an ultralight flight has ended in tragedy.

Carlo Arnulfo, 64, and Angela Buccico, 56, were found inside the wreckage of their Tecnam P2008 in a remote woodland area of Cosenza province, southern Italy. Reports say the pair were found together in the cockpit after the aircraft crashed and caught fire.

THE FLIGHT THAT NEVER ARRIVED

The pair had departed from Capo d’Orlando, Sicily, on Sunday morning and were heading toward Sibari airfield in Calabria.

Angela had reportedly sent her family a photograph of Stromboli during the journey.

The aircraft subsequently disappeared, triggering a large search operation involving teams on land, at sea and in the air.

A LAST-MINUTE BREAKTHROUGH

For three days, rescuers struggled to locate the aircraft in difficult terrain.

Then a local woman reported seeing the plane flying at low altitude near Fuscaldo.

An Italian Air Force helicopter later spotted fragments among the trees, leading rescuers to an extremely difficult crash site.

Teams had to be lowered approximately 148 feet into the woodland to reach the wreckage.

THE WRECKAGE HELD THE ANSWER

The aircraft was reportedly almost completely burned after the impact.

Both victims were found inside the cockpit.

Ground teams recovered their bodies and secured important evidence, including the aircraft’s black box, which could help investigators reconstruct the final moments of the flight.

WHAT CAUSED THE CRASH?

That question remains unanswered.

Investigators are expected to examine the aircraft’s altitude, speed and trajectory before the crash and determine whether there was an attempted course correction or a sudden loss of control.

Weather conditions and the mountainous terrain are also being investigated as possible factors.

Prosecutors are reportedly considering the appointment of a technical expert to examine whether negligence played any role.

Carlo Arnulfo was an experienced pilot and a prominent criminal and civil lawyer who had practiced at the Rome Bar for more than three decades.

Angela Buccico was a civil lawyer and legal educator from a family with a long history in Italian law and public service.
