Family Files Lawsuit Against Badminton Racket Maker After 6-Year-Old Girl Dies in Accident

The family of 6-year-old Lucy Morgan has filed a lawsuit against badminton equipment manufacturer Franklin Sports following the young girl’s death in a tragic accident.

The incident occurred in Maine on June 1, 2024, while Lucy’s 10-year-old brother was playing badminton. According to the family’s allegations, the racket’s aluminum shaft separated from its wooden handle, leaving a sharp metal end exposed.

The detached shaft struck Lucy in the head and pierced her skull, causing severe injuries. She was rushed to a hospital but died four days later.

Lucy’s family is now seeking accountability through a lawsuit against Franklin Sports. The complaint alleges that the racket contained design and manufacturing defects and lacked adequate safety measures to prevent such an accident.

The lawsuit raises questions about the safety and construction of the equipment and whether the manufacturer could have taken additional steps to prevent the tragedy.
