KAREN SOLOMON: ARREST WARRANT ISSUED AS SEARCH CONTINUES AFTER WORCESTER OFFICER’S DEATH

An urgent search is continuing in Massachusetts for Karen Solomon, 58, after an arrest warrant was issued in connection with the death of her husband, longtime Worcester police officer Kurt Solomon.

According to the Associated Press, Worcester Police Chief Paul Saucier said the warrant charges Karen Solomon with assault and battery with a dangerous weapon. Authorities say Kurt was fatally injured with a sharp object, although officials have not publicly identified the object.

 A 31-YEAR POLICE VETERAN

Kurt Solomon served with the Worcester Police Department for 31 years.

His colleagues have described him as a dedicated officer and a deeply respected member of the department.

His death has sent shockwaves through the Worcester law-enforcement community, with Police Chief Paul Saucier saying Kurt would be “truly missed.”

A wake is scheduled for Tuesday, followed by his funeral on Wednesday.

 THE FINAL KNOWN SIGHTING OF KAREN

Investigators say Karen was captured on doorbell-camera footage early Tuesday morning, shortly after officers responded to a call from the home where Kurt was found.

The footage reportedly shows her walking down a Worcester street wearing a T-shirt, shorts and flip-flops.

Authorities have continued searching for her, including around Coes Pond, where police have used dive teams and police dogs. Public spaces in the area have also been closed during the search.

Police have warned that Karen may be armed and have urged members of the public not to approach her.

Her public work had centered on reducing the stigma surrounding mental-health struggles among first responders.

Now, the woman who spent years advocating for vulnerable members of the law-enforcement community is herself at the center of a major police investigation.

WHAT AUTHORITIES HAVE CONFIRMED

Authorities have confirmed that Karen and Kurt had been married and shared a home, although officials have declined to discuss the details of their current relationship, citing domestic-violence privacy restrictions.
