MISSING 73-YEAR-OLD CONNECTICUT MAN FOUND DEAD AFTER MORE THAN A WEEK-LONG SEARCH

SHELTON, Conn. — A desperate search for a 73-year-old Connecticut man has ended in tragedy after Christopher Taylor was found dead nearly a week and a half after he was last seen, authorities said.

Taylor was last seen in the area of Booth Hill Road and Clinton Drive in Shelton during the early morning hours of Friday, August 14. His disappearance was reported to police two days later, prompting authorities to issue a Silver Alert and launch an extensive search.

On Monday, August 24, police announced that Taylor had been found deceased following a multi-agency search effort involving law enforcement, firefighters, search-and-rescue teams, volunteers and members of the local community.

THE SEARCH FOR CHRISTOPHER TAYLOR

When Taylor disappeared, Shelton police asked residents to carefully check their properties and surrounding areas, including backyards, wooded areas, fields, sheds, garages and other outbuildings.

Authorities described Taylor as approximately 5 feet, 3 inches tall and 120 pounds, with gray hair and brown eyes. He was believed to have been wearing bluish-gray pants and a dark, possibly navy-blue T-shirt when he was last seen.

The search quickly expanded beyond Shelton.

Multiple agencies joined the effort, including the Derby and Fairfield police departments, Shelton Fire Department, Shelton EMS, Oxford Fire/EMS and Oxford K9 Search and Rescue, along with community organizations and volunteers.

For Taylor’s family, each passing day brought greater uncertainty.

A TRAGIC DISCOVERY

After days of searching, authorities located Taylor’s body on August 24.

Police have not disclosed where he was found.

They also have not released a cause or manner of death.

Instead, investigators emphasized that the circumstances surrounding his death remain under active investigation.

The Connecticut Office of the Chief Medical Examiner is working with Shelton police as investigators attempt to determine what happened to Taylor after he disappeared.

Detectives say they are continuing to use every available investigative resource.

POLICE HAVE NOT ANNOUNCED FOUL PLAY

At this stage, authorities have not publicly said that Taylor’s death was a homicide, nor have they announced any suspects or arrests.

Officials specifically thanked those who provided information, shared Taylor’s disappearance and assisted search teams throughout the difficult operation.

The department also asked the community to keep Taylor’s family in their thoughts as they mourn his death.

For more than a week, the search had carried a simple hope: that Taylor would be found alive and safely returned to his loved ones.

Instead, the search ended with heartbreaking news.
