FATHER SPEAKS OUT AFTER COLLEGE BASEBALL PLAYER, 22, WAS KILLED BY POLICE AT WRONG HOUSE

UPPER POTTSGROVE TOWNSHIP, Pa. — A 22-year-old college baseball player was fatally shot by police after his family says he mistakenly went to the wrong home while trying to meet friends following a night out.

Glenwood “Bubba” Pysher IV had been celebrating a friend’s birthday with friends Saturday night. According to his father, Glen Pysher Sr., the young man became disoriented while walking through a wooded area and ended up at the wrong residence on Snyder Road.

HE THOUGHT HE HAD REACHED HIS FRIEND’S HOUSE

Pysher’s father said his son did not realize he had arrived at the wrong property.

According to information the family received from Pysher’s friends, he tried to open the door and called out because he believed his friends were inside. The homeowner contacted 911, reporting a possible break-in.

Pysher eventually sat on the back porch and was communicating with his friends by FaceTime. His father said the friends had realized the mistake and were on their way to get him.

POLICE ARRIVED MINUTES LATER

Upper Pottsgrove Township police were dispatched at approximately 12:30 a.m. Sunday following the 911 call.

The Montgomery County District Attorney’s Office said officers found Pysher at the rear of the residence. An encounter followed, and police fired, fatally striking him.

Authorities have not publicly released the identities of the officers involved or provided a detailed account of what happened during those final moments. The Montgomery County Detective Bureau is investigating the incident.

Surveillance cameras at the home reportedly captured the encounter, and investigators are reviewing the footage as part of the investigation.

HIS FAMILY SAYS HE WAS UNARMED

Pysher’s father said his son was carrying only a cellphone and a backpack containing clothing and a few beers.

The family maintains that he was not carrying a weapon and had already realized he was at the wrong house before police arrived. Those claims have not yet been independently established by investigators.

The circumstances surrounding the encounter remain under investigation.

A PROMISING BASEBALL PLAYER

Pysher had recently turned 22 and was preparing to begin his senior year at Saint Elizabeth University in New Jersey, where he planned to play his final college baseball season.

His father said his son hoped to become a high school history teacher and baseball coach after graduation.

Friends, former teammates and coaches have since reached out to the family, remembering Pysher as kindhearted and someone who helped others through difficult moments.

The family is now demanding a clearer explanation of what happened between the time police arrived and the moment Pysher was fatally wounded.

His father has questioned how an encounter that lasted only minutes could have escalated so quickly, particularly because his son was reportedly on a video call with friends shortly before police arrived.

Authorities have not announced any charges against the officer involved.

The Montgomery County District Attorney’s Office is handling the investigation, as is standard in officer-involved shootings in the county.

For Pysher’s family, the investigation is now the only path toward understanding how a wrong turn on a Saturday night ended with the loss of a young man who was preparing to return to college.
