Busy Philipps Reveals Rare Brain Tumor Diagnosis After Full-Body MRI

Busy Philipps, 47, has revealed that she was diagnosed with a rare brain tumor earlier this year after undergoing a full-body MRI scan.

The actress discovered the tumor during a scan in February 2026. Doctors identified it as a Grade 2 oligodendroglioma, a relatively slow-growing but rare type of brain tumor.

The approximately 2.6-centimeter tumor was classified as malignant because of its potential to return, although Grade 2 oligodendrogliomas generally have a more favorable outlook than many other malignant gliomas.

Philipps underwent surgery to remove the tumor on March 2, 2026. The procedure reportedly lasted about five hours.

She later required a second operation in April after developing a staph infection at the surgical site.

Despite the difficult experience, Philipps has received some encouraging news. She does not currently need chemotherapy or radiation therapy and will instead undergo regular follow-up scans to monitor for any signs that the tumor could recur.

Her disclosure offers a rare glimpse into a deeply personal health experience and highlights the role that medical imaging can sometimes play in detecting conditions before they cause obvious symptoms.
