“THEY’LL GET OUT — ISABELLE WON’T”: HEARTBROKEN DAD DEMANDS LIFE BEHIND BARS FOR HIS DAUGHTER’S KILLERS

Joshua Welsh thought the guilty verdicts would finally bring justice for his two-year-old daughter, Isabelle.

But after hearing the sentences, his relief quickly turned into anger.

Now, the grieving father is calling for whole-life orders for the two people convicted over Isabelle’s death, saying he cannot accept that they could eventually walk free while his daughter will never have the chance to grow up.

“ISABELLE WON’T HAVE A LIFE”

Isabelle’s mother, Alexandra Walker, and her partner, Harrison Simpson, were both sentenced to life imprisonment.

Simpson received a minimum term of 27 years and 231 days, while Walker received a minimum term of 21 years and 48 days.

Joshua says the sentences left him devastated.

His argument is painfully simple: those convicted will one day have the possibility of freedom, while Isabelle will never experience adulthood.

A FATHER WHO THOUGHT HIS DAUGHTER WAS SAFE

Joshua says he believed Isabelle was being properly cared for by her mother.

He had last seen his daughter only days before her second birthday and says he had never heard of Simpson until the man was arrested.

The five-week trial later revealed the extent of the abuse Isabelle had suffered.

The court heard that she had sustained fractures to 21 bones during the weeks before her death. Simpson was convicted of murder, sexual assault by penetration and child cruelty, while Walker was convicted of murder and child cruelty.

THE WARRANT THAT HAUNTS THE FAMILY

Another revelation has intensified Joshua’s anger.

Simpson had been subject to an arrest warrant issued in March 2024, around 18 months before Isabelle’s death.

The warrant followed his failure to appear in court over a breach of a non-molestation order.

Cleveland Police said multiple inquiries and attempts were made to locate him, but those efforts were unsuccessful. The force has since acknowledged that the length of time the warrant remained outstanding was inadequate and said it has introduced changes to improve the tracking and oversight of outstanding warrants.

Joshua has questioned whether Isabelle could have been protected if the warrant had been dealt with sooner.

NOW HE WANTS TO BE HER VOICE

For Joshua, the fight did not end with the convictions.

He says he wants to campaign for changes that could prevent another child from being failed by the system.

But above everything else, he wants Isabelle remembered for who she was — a little girl whose smile, personality and love meant everything to her family.

The court delivered life sentences. Joshua says that is not enough.

He now wants the people responsible for Isabelle’s death to remain behind bars for the rest of their lives — and he says he will continue speaking out so his daughter is never forgotten.
