SURVEILLANCE VIDEO REVEALS ALISA GOODS’ FINAL MOMENTS — BUT ONE QUESTION STILL HAUNTS HER FAMILY
A surveillance camera may have finally revealed what happened to Alisa Goods — but it has also raised heartbreaking questions about whether she could have been found sooner.
The 63-year-old New York grandmother disappeared while visiting Las Vegas earlier this month.
For nearly two weeks, her family searched desperately for answers.
Then investigators discovered her in a drainage ditch near Harry Reid International Airport.
THE CAMERA CAPTURED A CRUCIAL MOMENT
According to Las Vegas police, surveillance footage from August 8 shows Goods walking near an airport embankment before falling down, getting back up and then collapsing again.
Police said there was no further movement afterward.
Perhaps most importantly, investigators said her location could not be seen from the street.
That detail may help explain why search efforts did not locate her during the days she was missing.
SHE HAD LEFT TO RUN AN ERRAND
Goods had been staying with a longtime friend while visiting Las Vegas.
On August 8, she reportedly left the friend’s home intending to travel to a nearby CVS.
She never returned.
Her family eventually reported her missing and traveled to Las Vegas to search for her, checking hospitals and other locations while appealing publicly for information.
THEN THE MYSTERIOUS TEXTS BEGAN
While Goods was missing, her family received strange messages from her phone.
The messages reportedly asked for money, gas assistance and Bitcoin.
Because Goods did not drive, relatives immediately became suspicious and feared someone else might have been using her phone.
Those messages added another layer of uncertainty during an already desperate search.
A HOMELESS MAN EVENTUALLY FOUND HER
Twelve days after Goods disappeared, a homeless man discovered a woman in an embankment near the airport.
He alerted parking attendants, who contacted police.
Officers responded and identified the woman as Goods.
Police said they did not find evidence at the scene indicating what had happened to her, and her cause and manner of death have not been publicly released.
THE QUESTION HER FAMILY STILL HAS
The surveillance footage appears to provide investigators with an important piece of the timeline.
But for Goods’ family, it also leaves a painful question:
If she was there all along, could she have been found sooner?
Her family had spent days searching for a woman they believed might still be out there.
Now they know where her final moments occurred.
But they are still waiting for answers about exactly what happened to Alisa Goods.
The camera captured her final movements.
It may take further investigation to explain the full story.
