Minnesota Nurse and Two Adult Sons Found Dead in Apparent Murder-Suicide

A Minnesota family was found dead inside their home in Inver Grove Heights on August 30, 2026, after police conducted a welfare check.

The victims were identified as Jamie Lee Charles, 43, a nurse, and her two adult sons, Jaymison Samuel Shaw, 22, and William “Willie” Samuel Shaw Jr., 19.

Police said the preliminary investigation indicates the deaths involved an apparent murder-suicide, in which two people were killed before the suspected perpetrator died by suicide. Authorities identified the eldest son, Jaymison Shaw, as the suspect.

Officers discovered the three victims after responding to the residence to check on their welfare. Investigators have not publicly released a motive or provided additional details about the exact circumstances or manner of the deaths.

Charles reportedly worked as a nurse at the Minneapolis VA Health Care System for approximately nine years. Her death, along with the loss of her two sons, has left family, friends and members of the community mourning.

Authorities continue to investigate the circumstances surrounding the deaths. Because the investigation remains ongoing, officials have not confirmed additional details about what led to the tragedy.

The case remains under investigation, and any further information about the motive or circumstances of the deaths is expected to come from law enforcement as the investigation progresses.
