Community Rallies to Help Wojtek A Brave Teen Fighting a Life-Threatening Illness Seeks Hope in Specialized Treatment Abroad

Just a few months ago, Wojtek lived like any other teenager – studying, meeting friends, and participating in scout gatherings. During one of these gatherings, he experienced sudden facial paralysis. His parents immediately took him to the hospital, but after a short stay, he was discharged. However, the following weeks brought a deterioration in his health. Despite several otolaryngological procedures and a change in antibiotics, there was no improvement. Only detailed histopathological tests revealed the true cause of his problems – a malignant head tumor.

Then began a dramatic fight for his life. On September 4th, Wojtek was admitted to the oncology ward. Instead of his dream scout camp—for which he had been preparing for months—he faced further surgeries, chemotherapy, and long weeks in the hospital. The illness and intensive treatment led to exhaustion and serious complications, including secondary anemia and agranulocytosis.

Wojtek’s parents have consulted with numerous specialists. The best chance for effective treatment and regeneration lies in therapy at a specialized clinic in Germany. There, under the supervision of experienced doctors, the boy will receive a custom-made vaccine made from his own blood. This vaccine is intended to stimulate the immune system to fight cancer cells and strengthen a body weakened by chemotherapy.

The costs of treatment, transportation, accommodation, and supportive therapies are enormous. Every złoty brings Wojtek closer to recovery and a normal life.

Wojtek is a boy full of empathy and commitment. He has been active in the Scout movement for years, serving as a Scout leader. As a Caritas volunteer, he twice participated in collections at train stations, raising money for those in need. Today, he himself needs support to overcome his illness. Despite his difficult situation, he remains cheerful and dreams of participating in a Scout collection again in January.

Wojtek has three siblings, and his family, as they themselves emphasize, will do everything to reunite them. “Wojtek must come home. We can’t imagine any other scenario,” his parents say.

The local community is organizing a charity run to support fundraising efforts for Wojtek. On Saturday, October 11th, at 4:00 PM, a joint training run will take place at the Orlik sports field in Krostoszowice. Participants will symbolically cover several kilometers to show solidarity with the boy and his family.

Anyone can join – what matters is your presence, kindness, and willingness to help. The funds raised will go towards Wojtek’s treatment, which must begin as soon as possible.

It is a fight against time, but also against enormous determination and faith that together we will be able to restore Wojtek’s health and childlike joy of life.
