Boy Runs 30 Miles for His Best Friend Battling Cancer

When 11-year-old Maison was diagnosed with stage 4 rhabdomyosarcoma, his best friend Oscar knew there was nothing he could do to take the illness away. He couldn’t change the diagnosis or fight the disease in Maison’s place.

But Oscar could show up.

Determined to support his friend, Oscar took on a personal challenge: running one mile every day for 30 days. With every run, he shared Maison’s story and encouraged people to help his friend and his family through an incredibly difficult time.

Some days were undoubtedly harder than others, but Oscar kept going. Mile after mile, he carried a simple message of friendship—Maison didn’t have to face his journey feeling alone.

By the end of the 30-day challenge, the fundraiser had reportedly brought in more than £65,000, equivalent to around $88,000. The money was intended to go directly toward supporting Maison’s family.

Oscar could never promise his best friend what the future would bring. He couldn’t promise that everything would be okay.

But he could promise that he would stand beside him.
