At just eight weeks old, little Lucas has already shown his family just how much strength can come in the smallest of packages.

The baby arrived several weeks earlier than expected, weighing only 4½ pounds. Tiny from the very beginning, Lucas was born with differences affecting all four of his limbs — but his family says that has never stopped him from showing how determined he can be.

“Though he’s tiny, he is mighty,” his family shared, describing how their little boy is already working hard during physical therapy.

For his loved ones, each therapy session is another step forward as they learn what the future will look like for their son.

Next month, Lucas and his family will travel to Scottish Rite, where he will begin his orthopedic care. His journey is expected to include surgeries as well as plenty of therapy along the way.

There is still much ahead, but his family is approaching every new chapter with hope and confidence in their little boy.

One of their biggest wishes, however, is not something that can be found in a hospital.

The family says they have never met another family raising a child with limb differences, and they hope to build a community around Lucas — a place where he can grow up knowing that he is not alone.

“We would love to build a community so our son knows he is not alone,” they shared.

For now, Lucas is taking everything one day at a time. At only eight weeks old, he has already begun working hard in therapy, surrounded by a family determined to support him through every milestone.

“He will have surgeries and lots of therapy ahead of him,” his family said, “but we know how strong and capable he is.”

And for little Lucas, his journey is only just beginning.
