BRITISH EXPAT, 43, VANISHES IN COLOMBIA AS MARCUS RASHFORD JOINS DESPERATE SEARCH FOR ANSWERS

A British man who has lived in Colombia for three years has vanished without a trace, leaving his family thousands of miles away desperate for answers — and now football star Marcus Rashford has joined the public appeal to find him.

Anton Green, 43, from Whalley Range, Manchester, was living in Colombia when his family last heard from him in early August.

More than six weeks have now passed without contact.

His disappearance has left relatives in Britain increasingly desperate, with his sister saying the family has received very little information about the search being carried out by authorities in Colombia.

ANTON DISAPPEARED AFTER YEARS LIVING IN COLOMBIA

Anton had been living in Colombia since 2023 after travelling around Europe and South America and developing a connection with the country.

He speaks Spanish fluently and had reportedly been living around Fontibón, an area of Bogotá.

His family said he had also been associated with the Mesitas del Colegio area.

According to his sister, Sian Tuohey, there had been nothing obviously unusual about their last contact with Anton.

Then the communication stopped.

His phone has reportedly been switched off since August 8, while his family says there has been no response to emails and no activity on his social-media accounts.

Friends in Colombia have also reportedly been unable to locate him.

FAMILY LEFT THOUSANDS OF MILES AWAY

Sian has described the situation as an agonising experience for the family.

With Anton on another continent, his relatives in the UK have been unable to search for him themselves and are relying on information from Colombian authorities.

She said the family had been given confirmation that a missing-person case had been opened, but complained that they had received little further information about the progress of the investigation.

Sian said the lack of updates had caused enormous anxiety within the family.

She has appealed to people living in Colombia, particularly anyone who may have seen or spoken to Anton before he disappeared, to come forward.

MARCUS RASHFORD JOINS THE APPEAL

The case has now received a major boost in visibility after Marcus Rashford publicly appealed for information.

Rashford described Anton as a family friend and shared an appeal asking anyone with information about his whereabouts to get in touch.

The footballer’s involvement is significant because Anton’s brother, Ro-shaun Williams, is a former Manchester United youth-team defender.

The appeal has helped push Anton’s disappearance to a much wider audience as his family continues to search for answers.

WHAT IS KNOWN ABOUT ANTON?

Anton is described as being around 5ft 6in tall, with short afro hair and dark skin.

His family believes he had been staying in or around Fontibón and may have been considering travelling to neighbouring Ecuador.

However, there has been no confirmation that he actually travelled there.

There is also no confirmed evidence publicly establishing what happened to him after his last known contact.

His family has therefore urged people not to rely on speculation and instead provide authorities with any information that could help establish his movements.

BRITISH AUTHORITIES ARE SUPPORTING THE FAMILY

The UK’s Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office has confirmed that it is aware of the case.

An FCDO spokesperson said officials are supporting the family of a British man reported missing in Colombia and are in contact with local authorities.

The family is continuing to appeal for information while Colombian authorities investigate the disappearance.

For Anton’s relatives, every passing day without an answer has made the uncertainty harder.

His sister said the family simply wants to know what happened to him.

Anton has been missing for more than six weeks. His family is still waiting for the phone call that could finally tell them where he is.

Anyone who may have seen Anton Green or had contact with him around the time he disappeared is being urged to share information with the relevant authorities.
