FIRST PICTURES OF “DEEPLY MISSED” FATHER AND DAUGHTER KILLED IN DEVASTATING WORKPLACE TRAGEDY

The first pictures have emerged of a father and daughter who tragically lost their lives in the same workplace incident in County Offaly, Ireland.

Mihai Chinez, 49, and his daughter Denisa Mihaela Chinez, 24, both from Banagher, died at Banagher Precast Concrete following the incident on Monday, September 28.

The pair were originally from Romania but had lived in the Offaly community and worked at the plant for several years.

Their sudden loss has left relatives, colleagues and the wider Banagher community in deep shock.

FATHER AND DAUGHTER REMEMBERED TOGETHER

Mihai and Denisa were remembered in a funeral notice as being deeply missed and mourned by their family, friends, neighbours and work colleagues.

Mihai’s wife and Denisa’s mother, Angela, also works at the same company.

The family is now facing the heartbreaking loss of both a husband and a daughter at the same time.

Denisa’s sister, Lavinia Alexandra, and her fiancé, Liviu Blaj, were also named among those mourning the pair.

Tributes have been shared by friends and members of the local community following the tragedy.

TRAGEDY AT BANAGHER PRECAST CONCRETE

Gardaí and emergency services were called to Banagher Precast Concrete at approximately 11:40 a.m. on September 28.

Both Mihai and Denisa were pronounced dead at the scene.

Their bodies were subsequently taken to Midlands Regional Hospital in Tullamore, where post-mortem examinations were carried out.

Reports said the father and daughter had been working in the yard where precast concrete products are made when the incident occurred.

However, the exact circumstances of what happened have not yet been fully established.

The Health and Safety Authority has launched an investigation into the incident.

COMPANY LEFT IN “DEEP SHOCK”

Banagher Precast Concrete said the tragedy had devastated everyone connected with the company.

The company said its board, management and employees extended their deepest sympathies to the families, friends and colleagues of those who died.

It described the incident as an “unprecedented” tragedy for the organisation.

The company said its immediate priority was supporting the affected families and thanked the emergency services and everyone who responded to the incident.

It also confirmed that it would cooperate fully with the statutory investigation.

The tragedy has also sent shockwaves through Banagher.

John Leahy, chairperson of the Birr Municipal District, said the local community was struggling to process what had happened.

The family had been part of the area for a number of years, making the loss particularly painful for those who knew them.

Friends and neighbours have since taken to social media to offer condolences and remember Denisa and her father.

One tribute described Denisa as having been “taken too early.”

JOINT FUNERAL ANNOUNCED

The family will now say goodbye to Denisa and Mihai in the coming days.

They will repose at Banagher Community Centre on Wednesday, September 30, before a joint funeral Mass at St Rynagh’s Church in Banagher on Thursday morning.

Denisa will be laid to rest at St Rynagh’s Cemetery following the service.

Mihai’s cremation will take place at a later date.

For those who knew the family, the funeral will be a moment to come together after a tragedy that has left an entire community grieving.
