“THE HAPPY LITTLE BOY HE WAS” — NOAH WOODS REMEMBERED BY HIS FAMILY

Three-year-old Noah Woods became the center of a huge search in Brantham, Suffolk, after he disappeared from a local playground.

Around 1,300 people joined police and emergency teams in the desperate effort to find him, as the community came together hoping Noah could be brought home safely.

But after his body was found in nearby Decoy Pond, his family asked people to remember the little boy for the life he lived — not simply for the tragedy that ended it.

A HAPPY, CHEEKY LITTLE BOY

In a tribute released through Suffolk Police, Noah’s family described him as a “happy, cheeky, playful three-year-old boy” who loved to laugh and giggle.

They spoke about his affectionate personality, his love of hugs and the joy he brought to those around him.

Noah was also deeply loved by his baby brother, with the family describing the bond between the two children as something particularly special.

For his parents and relatives, those memories are now among the most precious things they have left.

“That is who Noah was, and that is how he deserves to be remembered,” the family said.

A SEARCH THAT BROUGHT PEOPLE TOGETHER

Noah disappeared on September 15 while visiting a playground in Brantham with a relative.

His disappearance immediately triggered a large-scale search.

Police officers, emergency responders, specialist teams and hundreds of volunteers searched the surrounding area, with approximately 1,300 members of the public joining the effort.

People travelled from nearby communities to help search paths, roads and surrounding areas as hopes remained that Noah would be found alive.

The following day, Metropolitan Police divers recovered the body of a child from Decoy Pond.

Suffolk Police later confirmed the child was Noah.

Police said his death was not being treated as suspicious, while further enquiries were carried out for the coroner.

THE FINAL MOMENTS BEFORE NOAH DISAPPEARED

An inquest later heard that Noah had been playing in an under-fives area at the playground.

CCTV showed him leaving the play area through a gap in the fence before continuing toward a nearby memorial garden and then in the direction of Decoy Pond.

His relative attempted to follow him but lost sight of him after around 200 metres.

The alarm was raised, beginning the enormous search operation that would continue into the following day.

The inquest heard that the medical cause of Noah’s death remained subject to further investigation.

REMEMBERING THE BOY BEHIND THE HEADLINES

For many people who joined the search, Noah was a name they had only just learned.

For his family, he was so much more.

He was the little boy who laughed, played, gave hugs and shared a special relationship with his baby brother.

He was a beloved son and a cherished member of his family.

And that is how they want people to remember him.

Not only as the three-year-old at the center of a heartbreaking search, but as the happy, cheeky and loving little boy whose short life brought happiness to the people around him.
