ONE YEAR LATER, LITTLE GUS LAMONT IS STILL MISSING — HIS FAMILY MAKES HEARTBREAKING PLEA FOR ANSWERS

It has been one year since four-year-old Gus Lamont disappeared, but for his family, the nightmare has never stopped.

Gus was last seen playing outside his family’s remote sheep station at Oak Park Station in South Australia on September 27, 2025.

His grandmother had seen him playing on a mound of dirt at around 5 p.m.

About half an hour later, when she went to call him inside, Gus was gone.

There has been no confirmed sighting of him since.

As the first anniversary of his disappearance approached, Gus’s parents, Joshua Lamont and Jessica Murray, made a deeply emotional public appeal for the first time.

Speaking in a video released by police, they described their son as their “beautiful, sweet and unique little boy.”

They said Gus loved music, listening to stories and playing in the natural world.

His father made a direct plea to anyone who might have information.

“We believe that someone knows something,” Joshua said.

“Someone knows what happened to Gus and may even know where he is.”

The parents also spoke about the milestones Gus has missed during the year he has been gone.

He should have celebrated his fifth birthday and his younger brother’s first birthday with his family.

Instead, his parents remain trapped in an agonizing wait for answers.

A MASSIVE SEARCH HAS FOUND NO TRACE

The search for Gus has become one of the largest and most intensive missing-person operations ever conducted in South Australia.

Investigators and search teams have covered approximately 700 square kilometres of remote country — an area roughly comparable in size to Singapore.

Police, emergency personnel, Defence Force members, volunteers and Aboriginal trackers have searched buildings, bushland, waterways, dams and open mine shafts.

Around 300 personnel have been involved over the course of the investigation.

Three dams were searched and drained, while open mine shafts were also examined.

Despite the enormous effort, investigators have found no confirmed trace of Gus.

THE CASE BECAME A MAJOR CRIME

In February 2026, South Australian police declared Gus’s disappearance a major crime investigation.

Police also identified a person who lived at the property as a suspect.

Authorities have stressed that Gus’s parents are not suspects.

Police previously carried out searches at the property and seized a vehicle, a motorbike and electronic devices as part of the investigation.

Detectives have continued to investigate every possible lead while warning the public against spreading unverified claims and conspiracy theories about the case.

A $1 MILLION REWARD

One year after Gus disappeared, South Australian authorities announced a $1 million reward for information that could help investigators establish what happened to him.

Police say they believe someone has information that could finally provide answers.

Recent reviews of aerial data have also identified anomalies that investigators hope could potentially help direct future searches.

Detective Superintendent Darren Fielke has urged anyone with genuine information to come forward, even if they believe a detail may seem insignificant.

For Gus’s parents, there is only one thing they want.

Their son home.

Gus’s family has spent an entire year living with uncertainty.

There has been no goodbye, no confirmed explanation and no certainty about what happened to the little boy after he disappeared.

His parents say every moment without him has been unbearable.

For now, Gus remains missing.
