At four years old, little Fariz still looks much younger than children his age. While many children are busy running, playing and discovering the world around them, Fariz remains unable to sit or stand on his own after being born with a serious spinal abnormality.

His challenges began from the moment he entered the world.

Doctors discovered that Fariz had a spinal condition that affected his ability to develop normally. Further examinations revealed that he was also living with hydrocephalus, epilepsy and paralysis affecting his legs. Doctors later told his family that the paralysis was expected to be permanent.

For his parents, the diagnosis marked the beginning of a long and exhausting journey.

Since he was a baby, they have repeatedly taken Fariz to hospitals for treatment and monthly check-ups. He has already undergone five surgeries, yet his development remains severely delayed and his health can still become unstable.

Every hospital visit brings another moment of worry for the family, but they continue to accompany their little boy through every difficult step.

“We have watched Fariz face so many challenges since the day he was born,” his family shared. “There have been times when we felt exhausted and afraid, but we cannot stop hoping for a better future for him.”

The financial burden has also become increasingly difficult.

Years of treatment have used up the family’s savings, while Fariz’s father works as a construction laborer earning around 600,000 Indonesian rupiah a week. On top of hospital expenses, Fariz also needs expensive specialized milk as part of his daily care.

For a family already doing everything they can, the cost of keeping up with his treatment has become a heavy responsibility.

Yet behind every hospital visit, every operation and every difficult day is the same hope — that Fariz can continue receiving the care he needs and have the best possible chance to grow stronger.

“Fariz has come so far, and we just want to keep fighting beside him,” his family said. “We hope people will understand his journey and help us give him another chance.”

At just four years old, Fariz has already spent much of his life facing challenges far beyond his years.
