Cindy Crawford’s Powerful Tribute to Her Son Presley Gerber Takes on New Meaning After His Death

LOS ANGELES — A heartfelt message Cindy Crawford shared for her son Presley Gerber’s 27th birthday has taken on a painful new meaning following his death.

On July 2, Crawford celebrated Presley’s birthday with photographs spanning different moments of his life and a deeply personal message.

“Happy birthday Presley Gerber,” she wrote, adding that she was proud of the man he had become but would always see him as her little boy.

Less than three months later, Presley died at age 27.

The Los Angeles County Medical Examiner confirmed that Presley was at a rehabilitation facility when he died on Sept. 20. His family subsequently asked for privacy as they dealt with what they described as a very difficult and painful loss.

A Mother’s Words Now Carry a Different Weight

Crawford’s birthday tribute was not written as a farewell. At the time, it was simply a mother celebrating her son.

But after Presley’s death, the message has resurfaced as one of the clearest public expressions of the bond between the supermodel and her son.

Crawford had continued to publicly support Presley during his struggles with mental health and substance use.

In March, Presley shared an account of an experimental treatment he underwent in Mexico, writing that he had begun “finding my way back to myself.” Crawford responded by calling him a “warrior” and saying she was proud of him.

His sister, Kaia Gerber, also spoke openly about her brother shortly before his death.

In a Vogue interview, Kaia described Presley as someone who was willing to be unusually honest about his experiences. She said his openness had helped change how the family viewed struggles that might otherwise have remained private.

The Family Is Keeping His Memorial Private

As the family prepares to honor Presley, reports indicate that the gathering will be deliberately intimate.

PEOPLE reported that Cindy Crawford, Rande Gerber and Kaia Gerber wanted the memorial to remain private and away from media and paparazzi. Malibu was reportedly being considered because of Presley’s connection to surfing and the beach.

The family’s decision comes as they continue to process the loss of a son and brother whose struggles had been increasingly discussed publicly in recent years.

Meanwhile, questions surrounding Presley’s death remain.

The medical examiner has not yet provided a final cause of death, and additional testing is required before an official determination can be made. Reports describing the death as an apparent overdose should therefore be distinguished from the pending official medical finding.

For Crawford, however, the public record already contains one simple message that needs no explanation.

She was proud of the man Presley became.

And to her, no matter how old he grew, he would always be her little boy.
