A COMMUNITY RALLIES IN PRAYER FOR A PARALYZED TEXAS COLLEGE STUDENT

Prayers are requested for a 20-year-old Texas college student who suffered a catastrophic spinal cord injury after diving from a dock into shallow water.

His family shared that Jack Malouff is currently paralyzed in all four limbs as doctors prepare him for surgery and outline the long-term possibilities for his health. On Friday night, Jack was with fellow college students at a lake in the Austin area when he dove from a dock and struck his head. Relatives said Jack remained underwater for approximately 30 seconds. When friends pulled him out, he was not breathing and lacked a pulse. CPR was performed, and Jack survived, but he suffered severe spinal cord damage involving the C2, C6, and C7 vertebrae.

He remains in serious condition, unable to move his arms or legs. Doctors have cautioned about potential permanent paralysis and the need for long-term breathing and eating assistance, though his exact recovery trajectory remains uncertain.

Beyond this tragic moment, Jack is a student at Austin Christian University and a dedicated young entrepreneur. Days before the accident, he won a university business pitch competition and was preparing to compete in Colorado. He was actively developing “Fosterly,” an AI platform designed to assist youth aging out of foster care by guiding them through benefits, education, employment, and personal support systems.

Now, his loved ones are urging people to join together in daily prayer for Jack’s recovery, asking specifically for his spinal cord to heal, his fever to decrease, and for strength as he faces upcoming surgeries and the long path toward regaining his mobility and independence.
